Missing Indigenous woman last seen in Spokane located

Dominique Red Elk has been located, according to the Washington State Patrol.

SPOKANE, Wash. — Update May 22, 2023: Red Elk has been located.

The Washington State Patrol (WSP) is asking for the public's help in locating a missing, at-risk Indigenous woman.

Dominique Red Elk was last seen on May 8, 2023, near the 1400 block of East 1st Avenue in Spokane. The Spokane Police Department (SPD) has now asked WSP to activate the Missing Indigenous Person Alert (MIPA) for Red Elk.

The 37-year-old woman is 5'7", weighs 120 pounds and has black hair and brown eyes. Police don't know what she was wearing when she was last seen, but said she has a flower tattoo on her back. 

Anyone with information about Red Elk's whereabouts is asked to call 911.
