Spokane hosting traffic calming workshops in neighborhoods citywide

The goal of these workshops is to hear neighborhood input on chosen projects to improve road safety on roadways.

SPOKANE, Wash. — New road safety projects will soon be presented to Spokane neighborhoods during upcoming workshops in the city.

The City of Spokane will host three workshops from May 16-18 through the new Traffic Calming program. The goal is to hear neighborhood input on chosen projects to improve road safety.

Spokane City Councilmembers Michael Cathcart, Karen Stratton and Councilman Zack Zappone will host the workshops, alongside two other city employees, Abigail Martin and Annie Deasy.

Each workshop will be 50 minutes long, with a presentation and follow-up project selections.

District 1 and District 2 workshops will take place at the Spokane Central Library in event Room A. District 3 workshops will be held in the Shadle Library Events room. 

Each day will focus on different districts in the city: 

  • District 1 Workshops, Tuesday, May 16:
    4:30 p.m.: Logan, Chief Garry Park, and Riverside
    5:30 p.m.: Nevada Heights and Shiloh Hills
    6:30 p.m.: Bemiss, Minnehaha, Hillyard, and Whitman
  • District 2 Workshops, Wednesday, May 17:
    4:30 p.m.: East Central, Lincoln Heights, and Rockwood
    5:30 p.m.: Grandview Thorpe, Latah-Hangman, and West Hills
    6:30 p.m.: Cliff-Cannon, Comstock, Manito-Cannon Hill, and Southgate 
  • District 3 Workshops, Thursday, May 18th:
    4:30 p.m.: Balboa-South Indian Trail, Five Mile Prairie, and North Indian Trail
    5:30 p.m.: Audubon Downriver, Emerson-Garfield, North Hill, and Northwest
    6:30 p.m.: Browne’s Addition, Peaceful Valley, and West Central
