Two arrested after carjacking in Spokane Valley, police still looking for other suspects

SPOKANE VALLEY, Wash. -- A man and woman were arrested in connection to an armed car robbery in Spokane Valley on Saturday afternoon.

On April 13 around 1 p.m., Spokane Valley Police responded to a report of an armed robbery in a parking lot near Indiana Avenue and Evergreen Road in Spokane Valley.

According to SVPD, a male and female victim were inside their parked Chevrolet Tahoe when the robbery began. The female victim was arranging items in the back of the car when it drove forward, causing her to fall out of the open hatch onto the ground.

She told SVPD she then saw a male suspect, later identified as 45-year-old Shawn D. Cranford, in the driver's seat of the car assault the male victim who was sitting in the front passenger's seat.

In a separate car, a masked woman drove up next to the Tahoe and yelled at Cranford to "go".

The woman then followed Cranford, who was driving the Tahoe, out of the parking lot.

Cranford and 23-year-old Elissia M. York were arrested after Washington State Troopers spotted the stolen Tahoe driving near Knox Avenue and Argonne Road.

Cranford was booked into Spokane County Jail for first-degree robbery and first-degree assault. His bond is set at $150,000.

York was booked into Spokane County Jail for felony criminal conspiracy. Her bond is set at $25,000.

The victims told police there were several other people involved. The additional reported suspects have not yet been identified or found.
