Spencer, IA (KICD)– The Spencer Hospital Board of Trustees gave approval on Thursday to transition it rural clinics to Federally Qualified Health Centers.

President and CEO Bill Bumgarner says the move was suggested by Avera, Spencer Hospital’s healthcare affiliation, as a way to reduce costs.

Bumgarner says the only change the public should see in this process is a rebranding of the clinics in Hartley, Milford and Sioux Rapids to Access Health.
