Bullying bill moves forward in the Missouri Legislature
SPRINGFIELD, Mo. (KY3) — With just over four weeks left in the Missouri legislative session, educators are monitoring a bill affecting student discipline closely. The Missouri Childhood Hero Act filed by Republican Tricia Brynes of St. Charles County has been combined with another bill, which is now in the State Senate. The bill gives districts across the state standardized punishment for students who commit violence or are involved in bullying or cyberbullying. If it passes, it would result in an automatic disciplinary consequence, which could mean suspension or expulsion. However, districts could also implement their own punishment on a case-by-case basis.
