A Sparks man was arrested Sunday after making multiple threats to a sporting goods store.
On January 14, Sparks Police responded to Scheels in Sparks on a report of a suspicious man in the store. Scheels employees advised that they received multiple threatening calls from someone indicating he wished to purchase five firearms and if he didn't get them that there would be a fight or that someone might get shot. The man also mentioned that he is armed.
After making over 10 phone calls to the store over a two-day period, 23-year-old Erik Felch entered the store and asked to pick up the five firearms. Store staff alerted their security and Felch proceeded to the firearms department. Officers responded to the store and found Felch in the firearms section where he was detained.
Felch had concealed multiple items of merchandise on his person from the store. He had seven semi-automatic rifle magazines and semi-automatic rifle parts for modification. Felch was also in possession of an Individual Police Officer Kit, which contained first aid supplies for traumatic injuries. He was also armed with a fixed-blade knife and a folding pocket-knife.
Felch was transported to the Washoe County Detention Facility where he resisted arrest and kicked an officer.
