The man who was killed in a police shooting at a Sparks shopping center has been identified.
29-year-old Dylan Wilson was killed on Tuesday night after he was shot multiple times. He is believed to have been homeless.
The Washoe County Regional Medical Examiner’s Office determined that Wilson's cause of death was multiple gunshot wounds to the head, torso and upper extremities.
The shooting occurred at the Iron Horse Shopping Center off Prater Way around 9:30 p.m. on May 30. The incident began when police received several 911 calls of a man and a woman arguing with the woman screaming for help. Subsequent reports indicated that the same man was armed with a “machete” and he was also arguing with another man.
When officers arrived they attempted to contact the armed man, later identified as Wilson, but he fled from the officers on foot. Authorities say that after a short distance Wilson stopped, produced a knife and charged at the officers. Officers opened fire and Wilson was taken to a hospital where he died shortly after arrival.
