The road to the state 5A softball championship got a little tougher for the Northern Nevada teams.
Defending state champion Douglas lost to Coronado 8-3 on Thursday at Bishop Gorman, then Spanish Springs lost to Palo Verde 7-2.
The two Northern teams will play again against one another: Douglas vs. Spanish Springs at 12:30 p.m. Friday at Faith Lutheran. The loser will be eliminated from the state tournament. The winner will face the loser of the Palo Verde-Coronado game at 4 p.m. Friday.
The championship and if-necessary game will be at 9 a.m. Saturday at Bishop Gorman.
