Will a Trader Joe's store open in the High Desert soon?

With Trader Joe’s announcing plans to open over 30 locations in 2027, High Desert residents are asking if a store is coming to the area. The popular California-based retailer, known for its private-label products, seasonal favorites and budget-friendly prices, currently operates four stores in San Bernardino County among 42 in the United States. In San Bernardino County, Trader Joe’s is located in Chino Hills, Rancho Cucamonga, Redlands and Yucaipa. For years, High Desert residents like Anne Sharp have hoped a Trader Joe’s would find its way to Apple Valley, Hesperia or Victorville. “We usually make four yearly runs to either the Rancho Cucamonga Trader Joe’s or the one in Redlands,” Sharp told the Daily Press. “We really need a store in the High Desert.” Trader Joe’s officials recently announced on its website that shoppers will see more stores. Unfortunately for Sharp and other Trader Joe followers, the new stores won’t be anywhere near the High Desert. Trader Joe’s said its new California store listings include: Anaheim Hills, Orange County Riverbank, located north of Modesto Leucadia, located near Encinitas in San Diego County San Diego, east of La Jolla. LADWP Board to Weigh Relief for Customers Facing High Bills

LOS ANGELES - LADWP commissioners will consider relief Tuesday, Oct. 27, for customers struggling with high electricity bills following a prolonged summer heat wave. Mayor Karen Bass is seeking a 25% increase in the utility's energy efficiency rebate program and called Monday for an independent audit of LADWP rates. The rebate increase remains a request ahead of the Los Angeles Department of Water and Power Board of Commissioners meeting. For customers facing bills now, Bass pointed to previously announced payment flexibility and shutoff protections through the end of the year . "These requests build on the steps I have already taken: allowing LADWP customers to pay only what they can afford and stopping all shutoffs through the end of the year," Bass said. "Beginning next month, LADWP will provide every residential customer with more detailed information about their electricity and water usage, so they can see how they use these utilities and how to conserve. LADWP is also expanding outreach to ratepayers to promote bill assistance programs, including Lifeline, EZ-Save and Level Pay."
