Get a close-up look at South Euclid’s beauty by taking the 2023 GardenWalk June 24, 25

The South Euclid Garden Club's annual Gardenwalk will take place June 24 and 25. The free event is open to the public.

SOUTH EUCLID, Ohio -- For those who may have ever driven about South Euclid and wondered what beauty may lie beyond those garden walls, here’s a chance to see for yourself.

The Sixth Annual South Euclid GardenWalk will take place from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., rain or shine, June 24 and 25. The GardenWalk was an event that sprang from South Euclid’s 2017 centennial celebration, and minus a year off for COVID in 2020, it has become a staple for those who love to grow and to see what others are growing.

This year’s South Euclid Garden Club GardenWalk provides an opportunity to tour 70-plus private, residential gardens, as well as a 21-acre nature reserve, a nine-mile wetland, eight unique neighborhood community gardens, and three neighborhood perennial “pocket” parks.

Visitors can bike, walk, or drive the sites while discovering creative gardens, greenspaces, and gathering places within South Euclid. Last year, the GardenWalk attracted approximately 550 visitors, including some from out of state. South Euclid Garden Club President Marge Koosed promises that this year’s GardenWalk will be even better.

“The South Euclid GardenWalk is growing, both in numbers -- we will have 20-plus new gardens, 74 in all -- and in experiences. And, a poet will have told the story of each garden as they perceive it, encouraging visitors in turn to reflect on nature’s beauty and the gardener’s individual creation.”

New for 2023, poets will craft a poem about each garden and these poems will later be bound into a book of poetry commemorating the Walk.

Koosed said GardenWalk seeks to inspire and engage visitors to share in all the natural beauty to be found in South Euclid.

The GardenWalk is free and open to the community.

Garden maps with detailed descriptions of each garden will be available in mid-June at the South Euclid Community Center,1370 Victory Drive, and at the South Euclid-Lyndhurst Library, 1876 S. Green Road. Maps can also be downloaded at gardenwalksoutheuclid.com/2023gardenwalk.

Additionally, GardenWalk maps will be available on the event days at the South Euclid Community Center, and at 1203 Berwick Lane, and 1320 Argonne Road.
