A South Bend native received a special honor Friday when the city renamed a street after him.

Mayor Mueller (D) and other city leaders renamed Broadway and St. Joseph Street to "Harold Brazier Boulevard."
The newly renamed street is one block south of Ivy Tech Community college in downtown South Bend.
Brazier is a former world champion boxer.
Brazier said he was surprised when he saw his name on the sign.
It's one of the best feelings I've had. All the fights, all the accolades I've had with boxing all over the country, all over the world, this means a whole lot. It actually means a little bit more than all the titles I've had during the years.

In his retirement, Brazier has given motivational speeches to students, co-founded a youth boxing exercise program and works with local charities.
