Notre Dame lands former 4-star transfer running back

Notre Dame took a big hit when Logan Diggs opted to enter the transfer portal and leave South Bend.

The Irish lost one of their biggest contributors from last year as Diggs averaged 5 yards per carry, scored 6 times and ran for over 800 yards. To many, including head coach Marcus Freeman, the need to add more depth to the running back room seemed to rise.

Enter former 4-star running back Devyn Ford, the Virginia native who played his first four seasons at Penn State, but has two remaining years of eligibility. Multiple injuries slowed down his career as he moved on from the program during last season.

The Irish had a need and Ford wanted a new start. The match was made Friday evening, as Ford committed to Notre Dame.

Ford brings experience to the position and if he can stay healthy, could be an important contributor over these next two seasons.
