The spring recruiting visits are well underway for the Notre Dame program, which includes another busy weekend coming up. On Saturday, 2025 Lucedale (Miss.) George County quarterback Deuce Knight will be making his first trip to South Bend.

He was one of the extremely talented quarterbacks who were offered on St. Patrick’s Day during the Pot of Gold offer event. Leading up to that event, Notre Dame had already been developing a deeper relationship with the Mississippi star.

“My conversations with the Notre Dame coaching staff are great,” Knight said. “They let me know that I’m the future of their program and they are ready for me to get on campus so they can tell me all about their program.

“I am excited to learn more about the Notre Dame culture,” Knight continued. “I don’t know much about Notre Dame right now. That is why I’m going on this visit. I just want to learn more about them.”

With a lot of interest coming Knight’s way, he is doing his best to navigate the chaos. In order to do so, he has laid out clear criteria for finding the perfect school.

“My recruiting process has been good,” explained. “It is starting to get more serious as far as me having to call schools and talk to coaches every day.

“The most important things to me when choosing a school is how well they can develop me and how well I fit into their system, how well I can succeed academically and after football and how well they treat me and my family,” he added.

With the program getting commitments from Kenny Minchey and CJ Carr during the last two cycles at quarterback, the future of the position is in very good hands moving forward. Potentially adding Knight to that room is an intriguing proposition. This visit could go a long way to seeing how much the fit makes sense.

Knight is considered to be a consensus four-star recruit by every major recruiting platform that has ranked him thus far. He ranks highest on the On3 ranking, where they have him pegged as the No. 62 overall player and No. 6 quarterback in the 2025 recruiting class. Rivals has him rated as the No. 197 overall player and the No. 1 quarterback in the class.

The 6-4, 185-pound signal caller is already being courted by some top programs. Some of his notable offers include the Fighting Irish, Tennessee, Texas A&M, Auburn, Washington, Ole Miss, Mississippi State and Indiana among others.

During his sophomore campaign, Knight put together a standout performance. He threw for 1,929 yards and 11 touchdowns in nine games. His completion percentage was 62 and only threw four interceptions on the season.

Knight was also a dynamic runner on the ground. He exploded for 488 yards and 12 touchdowns on 58 carries. That is good for an 8.4 yard per carry average with a long run of 80 on the season.

It should be no surprise based on his family background that Knight is such a talented athlete. His older brother is Ty Fryfogle, who was a star wide receiver for the University of Indiana from 2017-2021. During that time, Fryfogle hauled in 158 passes for 2,231 yards and 14 touchdowns.
