Notre Dame Lives Up To The Hype For Talented Wide Receiver Cooper Perry

Star Arizona wide receiver Cooper Perry goes in depth on his recent trip to Notre Dame

Notre Dame just went through their first week of spring practice to prepare for the 2023 college football season. A part of that excitement, this past weekend also served as the first major recruiting weekend of the spring season.

Among the notable visitors, 2025 Scottsdale (Ariz.) Notre Dame prep record setting wide receiver Cooper Perry made the trip to South Bend on Friday and stayed through Saturday. The Arizona native was recently offered during the Pot of Gold event, quickly setting up a visit.

This particular visit was a needle mover for Perry. He was flooded by excitement and positivity following the trip.

“The visit went amazing,” Perry told Irish Breakdown. “I had a great time. My dad also came with me and he loved it as well. We both had a great time.”

As if the sights, the history and academics weren’t enough to impact the Perry family, it was the coaches who really made an impact. That was the main takeaway for the talented pass catcher after Friday and Saturday.

“The best part of the visit was definitely just talking ball with Coach (Chansi) Stuckey and Coach (Marcus) Freeman,” Perry explained. “Man, I felt like I could talk about anything with Coach Stuckey for hours. He is exactly what a recruit looks for in a coach.”

From the sounds of it, Notre Dame fans and supporters should expect Perry to frequent South Bend as often as he can. This trip really stuck with him tremendously.

“I will be back without question,” he said. “I am going to try and be up as much as possible.”

While Notre Dame may have been a semi foreign place to Perry in terms of being there in person, it is a place that he was well aware and educated on before the trip. He has a family connection with the school that could go a long way to making this an easy decision when it is all said and done.

“Notre Dame is going to be hard to beat,” said Perry. “It is a legacy program for me so it’s always going to be hard to beat for any legacy, especially me.”

It was his grandfather who attended the school. Although he wasn’t a football player, he created a ton of memories by frequenting every game. How surreal it would be if his grandson would dawn the blue and gold one day.

Perry is starting to pull in several impressive offers, most of them coming in the PAC 12 thus far. He has been extended offers from the Fighting Irish, Oregon, Arizona and Arizona State among others thus far. That list promises to increase in the very near future.

The 6-2, 190-pound pass catcher put together a dynamic season as a sophomore for Notre Dame Prep. He hauled in 78 receptions for 1,100 yards and 20 touchdowns. Perry also ran the ball six times for 81 yards and another score on the ground.

The Arizona native isn’t just a premier on the football field. He is also an incredible lacrosse talent, being selected as a two time Under Armour All-American selection.
