Rapid Fire: The Swarbrick/Jenkins NIL Letter, Michael Mayer And More Notre Dame Pro Day, Micah Shrewsberry
We start the show by sharing our thoughts on the Jack Swarbrick/Father John Jenkins Op-Ed in the New York Times. We discuss what we agree with as well as what might be the hardest to achieve from the details they laid out. They want strict NIL rules, a national policy on missed class time, they want the NFL to create its own minor league system and the NBA to eliminate one and done. They don’t want athletes to be treated as employees and they essentially want everyone to put a higher value on the educational aspect.
Other topics include:
* Michael Mayer didn't run the 40 at Notre Dame's NFL Pro Day, but he had a solid day. So did TaRiq Bracy.
* Marcus Freeman wore a hoodie to Notre Dame’s first spring practice and the post-practice press conference earlier this week, but it’s not available anywhere for the public to purchase. What's the deal with that?
* Thoughts on how the Joe Ludwig buyout fiasco may have impacted Notre Dame paying a reported $4 million buyout to hire Micah Shrewsberry as its new men's basketball coach.
* Notre Dame women's basketball is in the Sweet 16. Should the season be considered a success if the Irish fall to Mayrland on Saturday?
* Will the World Baseball Classic help grow Major League Baseball's popularity?
* The Breakfast Club.
