Texas Defender Landon Rink Talks Notre Dame Scholarship Offer

Recent Notre Dame offer Landon Rink goes in depth on Pot of Gold experience

As a part of the Pot of Gold offer event on Friday, 2025 Cypress (Texas) Cy-Fair defensive end Landon Rink was extended an offer from the Notre Dame staff. If Cy-Fair sounds familiar, that was the home of former Notre Dame and now Detroit Lions tight end Brock Wright.

The Irish staff has their eyes set firmly on the Texas native, quickly developing a very good relationship. That led to today, an official offer and continued growth of that relationship.

“I talked to Coach (Al) Washington after a workout and he told me that it was time and he extended the offer to me,” Rink said. “I had talked to him a lot previously and he told me he loved my game and that I play Notre Dame football.

“My early thought on Notre Dame was that they are a school with a great history and tradition of excellence.” he continued. “I think that the Pot of Gold is really cool and something I am very glad to be a part of.”

For some recruits, the recruiting process can be a stressful one with a lot of twists and turns. For Rink, it is a blessing and something that he wants to take full advantage of.

“Recruiting has been going great and I am loving every second of it,” he said. “I am just taking it all in and really enjoying it.”

Rink is considered a four-star recruit by Rival. That ranking has him rated as the No. 173 overall player and No. 13 strong-side defensive end in the 2025 recruiting class.

The Texas native is already being pursued by several big time programs. Some of his notable offers include the Fighting Irish, Texas, Oklahoma, USC, TCU, Nebraska, Baylor and Texas Tech among others.

The 6-2, 250-pound defensive end was a dominant member of the Cy-Fair defense, which finished the year with 10-2 with a 7-0 record in their division. Rink finished the year with 76 total tackles, 18 tackles for loss, five sacks and 30 quarterback hurries. He also forced two fumbles and blocked a kick during the season.

The Notre Dame staff must continue to make a bigger impact on defensive line recruiting in the future. Add in the added element of potentially grabbing yet another talented player from the state of Texas, and Rink looks like a no-brainer target.
