Montgomery’s three junior stars capped their 2023 cross country season with some solid performances at national invites Saturday. Hanne Thomsen, fresh off winning her third straight CIF state Division 3 individual title, ran to a 24th-place finish at the 18th annual Nike Cross National event in Portland, Oregon, which features the top runners from across the nation. Thomsen finished the 5K race in 18 minutes, 11.1 seconds in wet and muddy conditions at Glendoveer Golf Course.

The Invitational is host to some of the most talented prospects in the country, including the only team in the history of high school basketball to have the number one player in multiple classes on the same team in Prolific Prep. The SRJC Bear Cubs took their first chance at scoring in the 7th minute when forward Taylor Gandy shot the ball that would have been the opening goal of the game but was saved by Las Positas goalkeeper, Mia Lemus.
