Steve Delaney, Jr, of Somerville, died in a motorcycle accident on Saturday, May 27 at 37 years old, according to his obituary and a GoFundMe created for his funeral expenses.

Delaney was an "adored" father, son, grandson, and brother, his obituary said.

"Our family is beyond crushed, heart broken, devastated and shocked to say the least," reads the description of the GoFundMe created by his sister. "There are no words to express the pain we are all going through."

Delaney loved his daughter more than anything else in the world, the GoFundMe said.

Delaney always felt "free and weightless" while on a motorcycle, according to a loved one's Facebook post.

"I lost my one true love," the post read. "I lost my best friend. The only man in my life that allowed my heart to feel love in its entirety."

Just a day before his death, Delaney made an eerie post to his Facebook page.

"It’s too early in the year to see all these people crashing on their bikes," the post read.

"Never thought for a second you would be one of them," a comment on the post reads.

To memorialize his life and his passion, his loved ones planned an event for his friends and family would gather to ride bikes together.

The memorial ride is planned for Friday, June 2 in Boston, according to the Facebook event page.

"If you knew Stevie you knew he loved his bike," the event description reads. "So together let's ride in his name."

The event, which will include a raffle for funeral expenses, will invite children to participate on their bicycles.

A visitation for relatives and friends is scheduled for Monday, June 5 at Saint John’s Church in North Cambridge.
