Shooters In 2 Cars Spread Evidence Across Somerville Streets: Police

Glass shattered out of Somerville storefronts and vehicles because of stray bullets exchanged in a car-to-car shooting, officials say.

Gunshots rang out at around 9:00 p.m. on Tuesday, March 21 at 31 Temple Street, the Somerville Police Department told Daily Voice. 

Multiple 911 calls and a ShotSpotter alert sent officers to the scene where at least two vehicles exchanged gunfire, police say. 

The two cars drove away from the scene of the initial shooting and exchanged more gunshots in the area of Main Street, between Moreland Street and Fremont Street.    

Officers collected approximately 16 shell casings from Temple Street and an additional 16 shell casings from Moreland, Fremont, and Main streets.  

No injuries were reported in the incident. 

The shooting is under active investigation. Police request that anyone with additional information contact the Somerville Police Department at 617-625-1600, extension 7238 for detective Pulli or extension 7240 for detective Cicerone.
