Interested in adopting a pet — or just looking at some adorable pets near you up for adoption? There are dozens of endearing pets up for adoption at animal shelters in and around Webster.

The Mud Run is a a non-competitive, untimed, adaptive one-mile run/walk along the Recreation Center’s obstacle course/fitness trail which loops around the back of the facility. Some of the run will be through water and mud, and there will be some challenging obstacles. What’s really neat about it is that kids and their adults can do it together. It’s only $5 per person, and the event includes some pretty cool swag, and lots of food.

Construction has begun on the new dog park planned in Webster Park. In a recent press release, Monroe County Executive Adam Bello announced that ground has been broken for the dog park, which will be located in the large grassy area at the corner of Lake Rd., and Park Rd., which leads into the campground.

The latest update from Wayne County suggests that salmon fishing in Lake Ontario is proving difficult. Nonetheless, on Monday, some fish were caught between 120 to 150 feet of water using various types of bait. Steelhead and king salmon were also caught off the Sodus Pier and in the channel. I stopped by the Webster Garlic Festival this morning for a few hours and wanted to share some photos with you in a bonus blog today. This is a terrific event (and I say “is” because it continues tomorrow). There are SO MANY garlic and craft vendors, a good number of food trucks and food vendors, even some things for the kids to do.
