Snowflake/Taylor Collisions March 7-14, 2023
Two collisions were investigated by Snowflake-Taylor police officers during the period of March 7-14, according to dispatcher reports. At 7:43 a.m. on Wednesday, March 8, a two-vehicle collision with injuries occurred in the 1300 block of South Main Street in Snowflake. The vehicles involved were a white Chevy Silverado truck and a black Dodge Durango. The individuals involved were Michael Trevino, 30, of Mesa and Sophia Saenz, 36, of Phoenix. According to the report, Trevino was driving southbound and stopped at a yield sign for an approaching vehicle when he was struck from behind by Saenz. Saenz was cited and released for following too closely and no mandatory insurance. No information was included regarding potential injuries.

Persons who were cited, charged or arrested by STPD officers are accused of committing a civil violation or of criminal activity, but such accusations should raise no inference of guilt.

One case of damage was reported to the Holbrook Police Department during the period of March 8-14, according to dispatcher reports. At 1:18 p.m. on Monday, March 6, a person reported a house window in the 400 block of Anita Drive sustained damages valued at $200.

Police looking for owner who abandoned sick dog at Pinetop-Lakeside humane society
PINETOP-LAKESIDE, AZ (3TV/CBS 5) - The Pinetop-Lakeside police department is searching for the owner who abandoned a sick dog at a humane society on Friday morning. Police say the dog was left in ‘deplorable conditions’ at the Humane Society of the White Mountains around 9:30 a.m. The dog is a heeler between five and six years old and wearing a red collar with a green leash. Police say the vehicle that dropped off the dog is a white 4-door Chevrolet or GMC with a black flatbed, diamond plating, and damage and paint missing at the passenger side front wheel well.

Snowflake Lobos earn back-to-back wins
The Lobos picked up back-to-back wins on Wednesday and Thursday of last week, opening up their regular season schedule with two power point victories. Playing in Chino Valley on Wednesday, Snowflake started slowly with two runs through the first three innings. School board approves new assessment system
The Holbrook Unified School District (HUSD) No. 3 Governing Board met last Tuesday, during which the board approved Performance Matters as a new assessment system for grades 1-12.
