Snow Hill alum picked as school's new head football coach

Snow Hill High School announced Friday that Raheem Hammond will take over as the school's new head football coach.

A Snow Hill alum, Hammond was a quarterback and safety for the Eagles during his high school career. Hammond has recently served as an assistant coach for the Eagles in recent years, while also being the president of the Eastern Shore Spartans football program and assistant for the Delmarva Elite football program and an off-season training club. Hammond also served as a wide receiver coach for the American Youth Football IMG All Star Game.

"Currently pursuing a degree in Special Education, Hammond believes in coaching the whole player - incorporating academic strength, athletic tactics, and building emotional connections throughout the entire team," Snow Hill said in a release. "His motto 'Care, Compete, Achieve' showcases his formula for creating lasting team spirit and student success both on and off the field."

Hammond has also worked in special education for five years in both Worcester and Wicomico counties.
