Sanchez Wins Livingston Central’s First-Ever State Track Medal

Talon Sanchez made history for Livingston Central athletics Thursday when he became the first Cardinal athlete to medal at the state track and field meet.

Sanchez, a freshman, finished eighth in the 110-meter hurdles at the Clark’s Pump-N-Shop Class 1A State Track and Field Meet in Lexington. His time of 16.51 seconds broke his previous school record time Rowen Perkinsby three-tenths of a second.

Chase Cooper finished ninth at the state meet in the 300-meter hurdles in 2018 and Carson Kitchens also had a ninth-place finish in the 1600 meters in 2021, both just missing the medal podium.
