Cops scrambled this morning to stop a driver heading eastbound in the westbound lanes of I-10 in New Orleans East. The calls started coming in around 6:20am.

Before they could find the wrong-way vehicle, the driver got on the Twin Spans heading to Slidell.

About halfway across the lake, it appears that driver realized she was heading the wrong direction and pulled onto the shoulder... still facing the wrong way with the headlights on.

NOPD ended their involvement when the car crossed into St. Tammany Parish.

After more than ten minutes later, the headlights were turned off. The car, however, remained motionless on the shoulder and no one immediately exited.

About 20 minutes after it all started, a police officer arrived on the scene. A state trooper approached the vehicle around 6:45am.

An hour after it all started, a tow truck hauled the wrong-way vehicle away.

Louisiana State Police told WWL First News that an "elderly female" was the driver, and they are investigating the incident. They say it appears she was "confused."
