SISSONVILLE, WV (LOOTPRESS) – A Kanawha County man faces charges following a Tuesday incident involving a firearm.
According to the Kanawha County Sheriff’s Office, on Tuesday, March 28, 2023, just prior to 3:00am, Kanawha County Sheriff’s responded to a disturbance on Carla Drive in the Sissonville area.
Metro 911 received reports from a female who stated that her spouse was intoxicated with a firearm and preventing her from leaving the residence. Dispatchers reported overhearing yelling in the background of the call from a male just before hearing multiple gun shots.
Arriving on scene, Kanawha County Sheriff’s Deputies located the suspect – identified as Odis Olish, 35 years old of Sissonville – within the residence. Olish was reportedly unwilling to cooperate with responding deputies, becoming combative upon their attempts to approach him.
Deputies were swiftly able to take control of Olish, placing him under arrest. The residence itself was reportedly found in complete disarray, with the bedroom door to the room in which the victim had been hiding having been torn down. At least 10 fired casings from a 9mm handgun were also discovered on site.
The victim informed deputies that Olish had been drinking at the Raw Bar in Sissonville prior to the events which had occurred, and that alcohol consumption appeared to be a key motivator in the altercation that took place.
Deputies would learn that as the disturbance was ongoing, Olish had not only gained access to the aforementioned 9mm handgun in the home but had also made unsuccessful attempts to retrieve additional firearms from a gun safe.
Odis Olish was placed under arrest for one felony count of Wanton Endangerment with a Firearm and one felony count of Kidnapping. Additional charges may be issued at a later time. As of Tuesday morning Olish was being held at South Central Regional Jail on a $250,000 cash bond.
