Jefferson Beer Supply’s 2nd Food Truck Royale helps Warming Shelter

JEFFERSON, S.D. ( KCAU ) – Saturday afternoon Jefferson Beer Supply hosted their second annual Food Truck Off-Menu Battle Royale. An event that brings out good people and friendly competition.

“The crews from these four trucks, at least so far, seem like they’ve got a really nice rapport, and they’ve been doing some lighthearted smack talking, and they’ve been really having fun with it,” said Jefferson Beer Supply owner Anthony Roark.

Patti’s Pit Stop, Malli’s on Wheels, Khai Thai Asian Cuisine, and Smash Food Trailer put their off-menu items to the test Saturday to win Jefferson Beer Supply’s custom championship belt.

“They’re all amazing chefs, we’ve got a really great variety of food, and I’d say the playing field is really even right now,” said Jefferson Beer Supply events coordinator Annabel Dirksen. “We’ll see who reigns supreme.”

While sharing good food and a good time, this year’s event also shared the mission of The Warming Shelter .

“There were some recent changes to the city budget, and they didn’t qualify or they weren’t able to get the same amount of funds they were used to operating with, and so they just had a need,” said Roark.

“They reached out to us with this idea, asked us to come be a part of it, and we were absolutely onboard, super excited about it,” said The Warming Shelter executive director Shayla Moore. “Super excited to come spread the goodness of what we’re doing in another area other than Sioux City.”

Known for serving tasty beer, Jefferson Beer Supply prides itself on events like these to serve the community.

“It’s a good chance to get people together,” said Dirksen. “That’s what it’s all about. coming together for a good time, good food, good beer, and for a good cause.”
