Musketeers score trio of goals in second period, withstand Lincoln comeback to earn 3-2 win in Game 1 of USHL Western Conference Semifinals

LINCOLN, Neb. (KCAU) – The Sioux City Musketeers defeated the Lincoln Stars 3-2 in Game 1 of the USHL Western Conference Semifinals.

After a scoreless first period, Gavin Garry scored his first USHL playoff goal just over a minute into the frame to put the Musketeers in front. Sioux City followed up Garry’s score with at power-play goal from Colby Saganiuk and another goal from Finn Loftus to take a 3-0 lead into the second intermission.

Lincoln responded with a 6-on-4 power play goal after pulling its goalie with 2:24 left in the game. The Stars pulled to within one goal at the 1:02 mark with Jack Pechar’s second score of the night.

The win for the Musketeers is the team’s first victory in the Ice Box after going 0-3 in the regular season. Sioux City aims to take a 2-0 series lead tomorrow night in Lincoln. Puck drop is slated for 6:05 p.m.
