Pair of events announced for grand opening of mountain bike trail at Cone Park

SIOUX CITY, Iowa (KCAU) — The grand opening of a new mountain bike trail at Cone Park will be accompanied by two events in June, Sioux City Parks and Recreation announced.

The new Mountain Bike Park will open on Friday, June 14, 2024, according to a release from the city. On that day, an official park dedication and ribbon-cutting ceremony will take place at 1:30 p.m.

The Cone Park Trail Fest will follow the next day on Saturday, June 15 from 10 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. A variety of activities will be on offer, such as professional rider demonstrations, free bike demos, professional lead bike classes, and guided trail rides, along with live music, food and drink, and more.

Admission to the Cone Park Trail Fest is free. The events offer something for people with all levels of familiarity with mountain biking, according to a release.

“Cone Park Trail Fest is the perfect way to introduce this new park amenity to the Siouxland community and tourists,” recreation superintendent John Byrnes said. “The event will match what the park itself offers, an incredible variety that is suitable literally for first time riders to professionals. There really is something for everyone at the park”.
