A New Space for STEM in East Baltimore
For students at Collington Square Elementary and Middle School in East Baltimore, the beginning of the 2026-2026 school year brought a new opportunity to explore science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM). The school recently opened the Cal Ripken, Sr. STEM Center, named after the Baltimore Orioles player, scout, coach and manager. The center, revealed back in August, is designed to give students hands-on experiences while developing skills in critical thinking, problem-solving and collaboration. Hopkins, continuing its work of giving back to the East Baltimore community, provided financial and logistical support for the project.
