Parkway kicking phenom Aeron Burrell, who picked an LSU football scholarship offer in early March, has committed to the Tigers, he announced Saturday on Twitter.

“After careful consideration, I’ve decided to remain in the Boot!!!” Burrell said on his Twitter feed.

The junior recently picked up a TCU offer and had offers from Houston, Louisiana Tech, Louisiana Lafayette, Grambling and Southern. He said March 8 he hadn’t decided when he might commit.

He received the call from LSU special teams coach John Jancek making the offer.

“It was great. I was at a loss for words,” Burrell said.

The 6-foot-3, 175-pound Burrell was a 2022 Shreveport Times All-City first-team kicker. He drilled 51 of his 52 kickoffs last season for touchbacks and converted 8 of 10 field goals, including from 50 and 52 yards. He was good on 37 point-after attempts in making the District 1-5A All-District team.

Rated as the country’s No. 1 kicker by some services, Burrell has plans for the summer.

“Probably going to go to LSU and TCU for their specialists’ camps, and that’s it,” he said.
