Shen outdoor pool closed this summer
(Shenandoah) -- Despite recent rainfall, continuing drought conditions are forcing Shenandoah officials to keep the city's outdoor pool closed this summer. Following Wednesday's Shenandoah Parks and Recreation Board of Directors' meeting, city officials announced Thursday that the Wilson Aquatic Center will not open in 2024. Officials say the city remains under stage 4 water rationing regulations, which prohibit the filling of swimming pools in the community. While saying the decision didn't come easy, officials add the city must follow the same rules as residents under stage 4 conservation. City Administrator A.J. Lyman tells KMA News last weekend's heavy rainfall wasn't enough to boost the city's low water levels.
