Shelbyville ISD’s 2023 Integrated Athletics weathered the threat of rain to get underway Wednesday. Schools from Shelbyville, Center, Timpson and Joaquin participated in the events that included competition in several races including a 400-meter dash, a walk race, and many more Olympic activities.

“It is my honor and my privilege to be here with you today,” Shelbyville ISD’s Special Education Coordinator, Gina Jones said. “On behalf of our students and our school, I just want to say thank you to all of our volunteers, our Integrated Athletics committee for planning this event, without them, none of this would be possible.”

A prayer and the National Anthem played by the Shelbyville High School Band followed. Each participating school marched around the football field to kick off the Olympic events.

Shelby County Cookers provided food for the event.
