Prep Report: Connersville edges Shelbyville at Blue Bear Golf Course

Shelbyville played its final 9-hole golf match of the season Monday and finished runner-up to Connersville, 160-165. Waldron was third at 202.

Connersville’s Will Chalker was the medalist with a 38 at Blue Bear Golf Course in Shelbyville.

Jake Garrison topped the Golden Bears with a 39. Cruz Nedderman posted a career-best round of 40. DaMiles McDuffey followed at 42. Logan Reinhart shot 44 and Trey McCullum carded a career-best 51.

Shelbyville will end its regular-season schedule on May 31 when it hosts the Shelbyville Invitational.

Baseball

Greenfield-Central 10, Triton Central 5

Mathew Shircliff had two hits and drove in four runs but it was not enough to get the Tigers (14-13) past the Cougars (15-10-2) in their regular-season finale.

Greenfield-Central scored three times in the second inning to take the lead and four more times in the third to build a 7-0 advantage that Triton Central could not overcome.

Mathew Shircliff had two hits and four runs batted in for TC. Nick Riggins also had two hits.

Rushville 12, Waldron 1

The Lions (6-18) scored 10 of their 12 runs in the second and third innings to defeat the Mohawks.

Keegan Bowles had three hits, three runs scored and three RBIs for Rushville. Bryce Berkemeier had two hits and two RBIs.

Tyler Smith earned the win after allowing six hits and one run over five innings.

Jared Brooks and Donovan Russell each had two hits for Waldron (7-18).

Waldron completes its regular-season schedule today against Scecina (10-16).

Triton Central 178, Oldenburg Academy 234

Triton Central’s Oliver Gearlds was the medalist with the low round of 38 in his final high school 9-hole match.
