MARINETTE — Sheboygan Falls kept a red-hot Marinette offense under wraps as the Falcons clipped the Lady Marines’ girls soccer team 4-1 in non-conference play on Tuesday.

Marinette entered Tuesday’s contest having scored 20 goals over its past three games but Sheboygan Falls (4-1 Eastern Wisconsin Conference, 7-2 overall) managed to bog down the Marines’ offense by keeping Sierra Schreiner, who had collected 14 goals over that three-game span, off the scoreboard.

Instead, it was Chloe Seymour who gave Marinette a leg-up on the Falcons in the early moments of the first half, taking an assist from Schreiener and pumping it past goalie Fiona Bryant for a 1-0 edge just six minutes into the action.

Sheboygan Falls’ defense took control from there, holding the Marines scoreless over the final 73 minutes and 57 seconds.

Brynne Carrol tied matters up at 1-1 with just under 22 minutes remaining in the first half, with the score holding up through halftime.

The second half belonged to the Falcons, with Lillian Reinl and Natalie Grunwald both finding the net as part of a three-goal outburst for Sheboygan Falls.

The Falcons put nine shots on-goal against four for Marinette.

Tuesday’s loss snapped a modest three-game winning streak for the Marines.

Up nextMarinette: The Marines (2-1-1 North Eastern Conference, 5-3-1 overall) were at home against Fox Valley Lutheran on Thursday, with results unavailable at press time.

Marinette is at Little Chute on Tuesday at 6:30 p.m.
