Sheboygan boutique giving customers $2 store credit for each donation to food drive: Weekly dose

SHEBOYGAN - Six Turtles Boutique, a size-inclusive boutique in downtown Sheboygan, will hold a food drive in conjunction with and benefiting the Sheboygan County Food Bank March 28-April 1.

For every item taken in, Six Turtles will give customers $2 in store credit to use that day, with no limit on the number of items a customer can donate.

“Our favorite part of owning Six Turtles Boutique is the opportunity it gives us to help give back to our community,” owner Lauren Ries said in a news release. “The Food Bank is working tirelessly to make sure that Sheboygan County has enough food to support the community’s needs. We’re excited to be able to give our customers a great opportunity to help make a difference while also shopping locally.”

Last year, the Sheboygan County Food Bank donated more than 1.2 million pounds of food, helping more than 3,200 families.

“This year, we are anticipating an even greater need in Sheboygan County as additional COVID relief ends,” said Food Bank Director Patrick Boyle in the release. “Every donation we receive goes to help the nearly 11,000 people in Sheboygan County who are hungry on any given day.”

The Food Bank is most in need of feminine supply items, personal hygiene products, healthy cereals and peanut butter. Six Turtles will accept these items and any other food donations people would like to give, the news release said.

Six Turtles Boutique is at 833 Pennsylvania Ave. and is open 10 a.m.-6 p.m. Tuesdays-Fridays and 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Saturdays.

▶ Wisconsin Singers coming to Oostburg in April:Wisconsin Singers, the University of Wisconsin-Madison’s premier Broadway-caliber touring production, will take the stage for its annual season show at Oostburg High School, 410 New York Ave., at 7 p.m. April 15.

Oostburg’s own jazz band and choir programs will open the show, while the Wisconsin Singers will offer captivating vocals, choreography, the eight-piece Wisconsin Singers band and Badger spirit.

The 90-minute Wisconsin Singers show will feature more than 35 songs from decades of American pop, jazz, rock and Broadway hits.

The group has been known to highlight some of the music industry’s greatest artists, like Prince and Katy Perry, as well as blockbuster movies, like “Footloose” and Disney’s “Encanto.”

The ensemble will perform Broadway showstoppers from musicals such as “West Side Story” and “Moulin Rouge.”

Badgers fans will bring the house down as they sing along to fifth-quarter classics like “On, Wisconsin!,” “Varsity” and “Jump Around.”

The production will be capped by the Wisconsin Singers’ band showcasing its jazz, funk and classic rock.

• April 22-23: Spring Concert — The Arts Center will present its 20th annual Spring Concert, “Musical Potpourri,” at 7:30 p.m. April 22 and 2:30 p.m. April 23. Director Barb Zirwes-Nysse will lead a choir of more than 40 singers. Mary Fellenz and Tom Armstrong will accompany the choir. Tickets are $15 for PAC members and $17 for non-members.

• April 28: “A Night at the Opera” fundraiser — “A Night at the Opera,” a special recital showcasing Sherry Joseph, soprano, and Christopher Guy, tenor, will be held at 7:30 p.m. as a fundraiser for the Fine Arts and music departments of Plymouth High School, Sheboygan Falls High School and the Plymouth Arts Center. Pianist Emile Blasczyk will accompany the duo. Tickets for the recital are $25 in advance or $30 at the door.

• May 12-14: Youth theater production — Youth Theatre Company will present “Oh Sweet Goats and Little Tales,” a tribute to great storytelling through song, dance and great stories. Performances are at 7:30 p.m. May 12-13 and 2:30 p.m. May 14. Tickets are $10 and the show will be at the Plymouth Arts Center.

• June 9-10: Spring Art Tour — The Arts Center will present the ninth annual Northern Moraine Spring Art Tour from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. June 9 and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. June 10. The event offers a self-guided tour of area artists’ studios, galleries and boutiques. Admission is free and includes more than 35 artists at the following 15 venues:
