FAST food is not as cheap as it once was, and McDonald's fans are furious over the chain's price hikes over the years.

Some of the fast food chain's menu prices are reportedly 199% higher than 10 years ago.

A McDonald's fan shared a Reddit post referencing a FinanceBuzz report that highlights how the chain's food prices have essentially doubled since 2014.

The item with the greatest percent increase over the last 10 years was the McChicken Sandwich, which rose 199% from $1 to $2.99.

The Quarter Pounder with Cheese Meal at McDonald's saw the greatest price increase since 2014.

    The meal has increased by $6.60, from $5.39 to $11.99 - a 122% hike.

Another notable price increase is for the 10-piece McNugget Meal, which costs $5 more than it did in 2014.

The meal's price spiked from $5.99 to $10.99, or 83%.

Other McDonald's items increased by at least $2, including the four-piece McNugget Happy Meal, Oreo McFlurry, Medium Fries, and McDouble Sandwich.

    PRICE PUSHBACK

The hike in menu prices has driven away many McDonald's fans, as what was once regarded as a cheap place to eat is becoming increasingly unaffordable.

"It stopped me from going there. It's good though, I've learned that sometimes I'm better off not eating," said one Reddit user.

Another customer shared that they've been spending their dollars at Aldi instead because they can no longer afford fast food.

Other diners had a more positive take on the price increases, claiming that eating out less encouraged them to lose weight and consume less unhealthy food.

"You can get four to five pounds of chicken breasts for under $13 at Walmart, which is about what a Big Mac meal costs," said one.

"McDonald's is doing America a favor by discouraging consumption of its sh**ty-sh** food."

Another fan speculated that McDonald's purposely raised prices to reduce the number of customers, thereby decreasing the need for employees.

"They have less employees because they purposely have fewer customers," began the McDonald's customer.

"People don't seem to realize that Mcdonald's changed from serving many customers quickly at a low margin to serving fewer customers more slowly with increased margins to offset the difference."

They added that the chain used to be for "poor people" but is now for "lazy affluent" people who don't pay much attention to menu prices.

Price hikes have also taken a hit to shoppers' wallets outside the fast food landscape.

Meanwhile, Goodwill customers fumed over increasing costs as shoppers say the prices are "like a department store."

Plus, Macy’s shoppers will see a staggering 6% credit card rate increase that could more than double what customers have to pay.

Perhaps people that eat fast foods should be careful about complaining, because remember the 'radiation meat' or 'bio modified' or 'maggot based protein '. All of which could and probably will become a viable option for the profit based corporations that could care less about the publics health.
