SHADY SPRING, WV (LOOTPRESS) – Community members have been welcomed to bring their furry friends along for the upcoming Summer Fun Dog Show set to take place on Tuesday at Walnut Ridge Farm in Shady Spring, WV.
The event, sponsored by Green Clover Farm, is scheduled to occur the evening Tuesday, June 6, 2023, will direct all proceeds to the benefit of the American Heart Association.
Multiple categories will be available for participating pups, including mixed breeds under and over 35 pounds, youth handler class, best in show, and many more. Awards will be distributed for 1st – 6th prize in each category. The full list of categories for the event will be as follows:
- Costume Contest
- Puppy Class- (all breeds and mixes less than a year old)
- Senior Canine Citizen- (all breeds and mixes 7 yrs old or older)
- Jumping (highest jumper)
- Toy Group (Yorkies, Chihuahuas, Min. Pins, Pugs, etc.)
- Sporting Group/Hound Group (Dachshund, Hounds, Pointers, Spaniels, Retrievers, Setters, Beagles, etc.)
- Non-Sporting Group/Terrier Group (Bull Dogs, Dalmatian, Poodles, etc.)
- Youth Handler Class- Any breed but must be led by a kid under 17 years old
- Herding Group/Working Group (Shepherds, Collies, Cattle Dogs, Sheep Dogs, Boxers, Rottweilers, Huskies, etc.)
- Best Treat Catcher (bring own treats)
- Rescue Class (dogs that came from a rescue/shelter or that you rescued)
- Mixed breeds under 35 lbs
- Mixed breeds over 35 lbs
- Timed Agility on Leash (for dogs 16″ tall and under- add 5 seconds for each fault at an obstacle)
- Timed Agility on Leash (for dogs over 16″- add 5 seconds for each fault at an obstacle)
- BEST OF SHOW- FREE entry fee- For all 14 place winners of any previous class (NICE prizes for winners of this class)
The event will be held outdoors and all participating dogs must be leashed at all times. Additionally, leashes must be under six-feet-long, and retractable leashes are not permitted.
Registration will open at 6:00pm on Tuesday, June 6, 2023, and the show will begin at 6:30pm. Registration will be $5 per category per dog or $20 for unlimited categories per dog. Registration payment should be cash only.
Those who attend will be asked to sign a waiver indicating their attendance at their own risk. Participants should also keep six feet between their dogs and other participating dogs, and each owner will be held responsible for the behavior of their dog. Owners will also be expected to clean up after their own pets. Participating pets should be up to date on rabies and other vaccines.
There will be no fee for spectators but donations are appreciated. Attendees have been asked to bring their chairs. No public restrooms will be available for use at the event.
