FOX26 first reported that a woman was killed early Sunday morning following a rollover crash in Selma. According to the California Highway Patrol, two people were speeding in a 2005 Kia Soul when they lost control of the vehicle and crashed into a pole and parked car.

Investigators say the Kia rolled, flew into the air, and both the passenger and driver were thrown from the vehicle before it crashed into a home. CHP said the male and female were taken to the hospital. The woman died around 8 a.m. Sunday and the man remains in the hospital with life-threatening injuries.

Elizabeth Perez is the owner of the house the car crashed into, she said even though her daughter no longer has a room at least they didn't lose their lives.

"A corner of my daughter's room, not even a window shattered, her bed is not even there," said Perez. "Yes, she lost her toys, her books, and stuff like that but we'll get all that back and we'll repaint but us, we can't get back."

The car flew through her 5-year-old daughter's bedroom, Perez said most of the time she will sleep with her daughter in her bed but luckily they both decided to sleep in her bed on the other side of the house.

"My daughter was right next to me and I just covered her, I threw myself on her," said Perez. "All I said was 'god protect us' because I knew something, at that point... by then I hear my carport just crushing so I honestly thought that the car was already pierced through my, this window, my bed's right here so I was just bracing myself."

Even though they can't stay in their house, Perez said The Red Cross won't help.

"They said because it was considered a crime they can't help me, but I'm not the criminal," she said.

But she said the real heroes were her neighbors that morning.

"You're half asleep, I mean you just woke up. It was just instinct to just try to help," said neighbor Joesph Barela.

Perez said it was a miracle she and her daughter made it out alive.

"God is so real," she said. "Sometimes people ask like, they want to see Jesus, how do you know god is real? These are the things that show us, god, is real."
