A 13-year-old boy was arrested Tuesday after police say he threatened a classmate and school staff member in Selma.

According to the Selma Police Department, officers learned that a teenager made a threat toward an Abraham Lincoln Middle School staff member and classmate on social media.

Following an investigation, officers were able to identify the teen. He was then arrested and booked into the Fresno County juvenile hall for the alleged threats.

“The Selma Police Department is committed to fully investigate each threat and ensuring the safety of students, school staff and community members,” said Selma PD in a statement. “The Selma Police Department also encourages parents to discuss these events with their child and be vigilant as we work towards ensuring the safety of our community.”
