Local Sports – Girls Fast-pitch – STATE Championship

The Tree Top manufacturing plant here in Selah is not the only thing all juiced up. The Top 16 Class 2A girls high school fast pitch teams in the state with 230 athletes are all juiced up as well as their final journey for a State Championship ring begins this morning and 2 teams will Play at 3 pm on Saturday for all the Apples!

The 6th ranked Port Angeles Roughriders will have an early breakfast and then a 9 am first pitch against a well tested, battle hardened 11th ranked Cedarcrest Red Wolves team from the banks of the Snoqualmie River in East King County.

The Wolves will send to the mound Junior Emma Dukes. Dukes is well tested, pitching against the top Class 3A teams in King and Snohomish County in the vaunted  WESCO 2A-3A league.

On the season Duke has 8 wins and 5 losses with an ERA of 3.65. Duke pitched 69 innings with with 42 strike outs. Her opponents bat ,289 against her.

The Roughriders will counter with Senior Cheyenne Zimmer who was un hittable against Orting and Fife in Saturdays District tournament.

Center Fielder Lily Halberg, Utility player Alexa Money, 3rd Baseman Taylor Worthington and pitcher Cheyenne Zimmer.
