It feels like we've been talking about fights at NFL training camps a lot over the past week or so.

On Wednesday morning, it was announced that the Detroit Lions and New York Giants would both be fined $200,000 after fights broke out in joint practices each of the previous two days. Wednesday afternoon brought the worst fight of the year, with Seattle Seahawks star wide receiver DK Metcalf ripping a teammate's helmet off and hitting him with it.

Video of the incident was caught by NFL Network, which was filming a show during the practice. That video has been spread on social media far and wide in the hours since.

After the fact, once players were separated and practice ultimately came to a close, first-year head coach Mike MacDonald talked to the NFL Network crew and was asked about his reaction to the fight and the passion that drove it.

"We're right on the line right now," Macdonald said.

The line he is talking about is one between competitive fire and taking things too far. During training camp, we know that players are competing for a spot on the roster and fighting for job security, but when it amounts to fighting your own teammates, sometimes that's a sign to cool things off.

"We definitely don't want people fighting out here, especially against their own teammates," Macdonald continued. "We've been out here 14 of the last 16 days. I think we're tired of going against one another."

For that reason, we've seen a lot of teams participate in joint practices with other teams each summer, but that also opens up the opportunity to fight against other teams, as we saw this week with the Lions and Giants.

Metcalf is a proven hot head. How many penalty yards has he caused in the last 5 years? Trade him.

DK has been find several time for his temper on the field it’s not going to stop now it’s during training camp with a teammate the NFL needs to do something the new coach needs to step in a do something. DK has caused some penalties that the other team got the ball and scored. I wouldn’t be surprised that there actually causing DK to make those mistakes on purpose. This coaching staff needs to do something before the season starts
