The Seattle Police Department has released body cam footage showing the aftermath of an incident involving a “heavily intoxicated” woman found in Colorado Avalanche star Valeri Nichushkin’s hotel room.
The incident happened April 22 before Game 3 of the Avalanche’s playoff series against the Seattle Kraken. Police were called to Seattle’s Four Seasons Hotel to investigate a “behavioral crisis” call involving the unnamed woman.
Avalanche staffers had found the woman in the room with Nichushkin, who had missed the team’s morning skate around.
While Nichushkin left the hotel with team security, Avalanche team physician Dr. Bradley Changstrom stayed with the 28-year-old woman and waited for police to arrive. He told officers she was not functional enough to leave the hotel.
“We were trying to get her out of the room,” Changstrom told Knight. “And she was very clearly intoxicated. Very clearly, I could not send her in an Uber due to her safety.”

Changstrom tells officers he did not know what had happened in the 12 hours preceding the discovery of the woman. He added that he and another team staff member had been in the hotel room with the woman “trying to get clothes on her.”
The woman told police she is a Ukrainian native who came to the U.S. from Russia to attend college. She also said some “person took my ID.” She also went on to call Nichushkin “very bad” and “a liar.”
Nichushkin did not play the remaining five games of Colorado’s first-round series loss to the Kraken due to “personal reasons.” The 28-year-old Russian forward has played four years for Colorado, and scored 47 points this season.
