Child making threat from parents’ phone causes temporary evacuation of West Seattle middle school

Students and faculty at Madison Middle School in West Seattle were temporarily evacuated Tuesday after a threat was called into the Seattle Police Department.

At about 11:15 a.m., police received the threat. Students and staff were evacuated and waited outside as officers worked to clear the building.

The threat, according to Seattle police, was made by a child who was in possession of his parents’ phone.

According to a note from the principal, all students and staff were safe.

At about 12:38 p.m., officers gave faculty the all-clear and students were able to return to class.
