Despite being in the L.A. sunshine, all it took was one season away, spent on a losing team, for Bobby Wagner to return to his NFL home. Perhaps as symbolic as the 12th Man itself, Wagner is a true franchise icon for the Seattle Seahawks, and, according to current NFL safety Quandre Diggs, who also plays for coach Pete Carroll, Wagner will be returning in 2023.
The eight-time Pro Bowl middle linebacker has reportedly signed a one-year contract worth $7 million, becoming the latest piece of a massive defensive overhaul from Seattle’s front office this offseason.
Wagner signed a five-year, $50 million contract with Seattle’s NFC West rivals last offseason but was part of the Los Angeles Rams’ attempt to cut costs as they try and bounce back next year. Despite the Rams’ struggles, Wagner held up his end of the bargain.

Now Wagner will be rejoining the Seahawks, where he previously enjoyed ten seasons playing in front of the electric crowds at Lumen Field.
Currently the team’s second-leading solo tackler of all-time, Wagner has a chance to surpass former safety Eugene Robinson with 123 more tackles in his career. If the 32-year-old can stick around for more than one season, Robinson’s Seahawks record is well within reach for the future Hall of Fame linebacker.
