2 guilty pleas to murder in separate NEPA cases

Just as jury selection was about to get underway yesterday morning, the 19 year old accused of shooting and killing another teen entered into a plea deal in Lackawanna County Court. Evan Wasko of Scranton admitted to shooting and killing 17-year-old Joseph Roberson in Spring Brook Township in June of last year. Wasko pleaded guilty to third-degree murder. The plea agreement calls for Wasko to be sentenced to the maximum penalty, which is 20-to-40 years behind bars. A sentencing date has not been set.

A man from New Jersey entered a guilty plea by video conference to third degree murder in Luzerne County Court yesterday. 27 year old Tyquan Lassiter was charged with the shooting death of Peter McCoy that occurred in a parking lot in Kingston in September of 2022. His sentencing is set for November 22nd.
