A Scranton man was recently sentenced to prison for a Christmas Day incident.

According to court documents, 30-year-old Darren Lehrkamp pled guilty to an amended charge of a Class D Felony for intimidation with a dangerous weapon. He was sentenced to five years in prison, which Greene County Attorney Thomas Laehn explained that since this was a forcible felony, that means prison was mandatory. The prison sentence is to run concurrently with the charge of an assault for a 30 day jail sentence.

The charge stemmed from an incident this past Christmas Day. The Greene County Sheriff’s Office responded after Lehrkamp at first left the residence in the 1100 block of Lincoln Street in Scranton and then came back with a kitchen knife and slashed tires of a couple of parked vehicles at the property and then drove the knife into the front screen door of the home before leaving again.

Lehrkamp was also ordered to pay over $1,000 in fines, surcharges, victim restitution and court costs. Court documents show that Lehrkamp was originally charged with a Class C Felony for intimidation with a dangerous weapon habitual offender to the Class D Felony instead. All other charges, including a felony for going armed with intent, and misdemeanors for third degree criminal mischief and fifth degree theft were dismissed.
