Authorities say the boy was found around 4 a.m. without shoes on. The child is said to be non-verbal and believed to be on the autism spectrum, but no other information is known about him. Around 11:30 a.m., Glendale Police Department confirmed that the boy’s family had been located and had picked him up.

PHOENIX (3TV/CBS 5) -- The man accused of shooting five people, killing four, in Mesa and Phoenix made his initial court appearance over the weekend. Iren Byers, 20, appeared Sunday morning in court for a reading of the charges, which includes multiple counts of first-degree murder. In court recordings obtained by Arizona’s Family, Byers said his name and date of birth, as is standard protocol during an initial hearing, but otherwise was noticeably incoherent as he screamed and made various noises while court officials spoke.

PHOENIX (3TV/CBS 5) -- A woman is dead after police say she was hit by a car in west Phoenix late Sunday. Officers tell Arizona’s Family that the crash happened around 11 p.m. near 27th and Luke avenues, south of Bethany Home Road. Investigators believe that the woman was crossing mid-block on 27th Avenue when she was struck by a northbound car. She was pronounced dead at the scene. Her identity has not been released but police say she was in her mid-60s.

PHOENIX (3TV/CBS 5) — A man is dead after a family was assaulted overnight in the Litchfield Park area just after midnight early Sunday morning. Maricopa County Sheriff’s deputies responded to reports of an assault in a home near 127th Avenue and Orange Drive. When deputies arrived, they found a man, two women and a child with multiple wounds. The sole suspect was still inside and was arrested by deputies.

Shortly after midnight on Sunday, a woman called 911 and said her son, 26-year-old Xavier Joseph Salazar, had broken into her home. Salazar’s mother said her 1-year-old grandson and the baby’s mother were inside the house, but she didn’t know where they were because she was hiding in a bathroom, investigators said. She told police Salazar had attacked her, and she was bleeding, but she didn’t know what kind of weapon he had. They had an order of protection to keep Salazar away from the house and family, court documents say.

That crew is fire investigator David Zehring, also accelerant detection K-9 Zeta’s handler. Zeta is the only Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives-trained dog in the state who recently helped solve the church arsons in Douglas. Police said the K-9 found accelerants on Eric Ridenour’s clothes and shoes, linking him to the two historic church fires last week, a case cracked on Zeta’s fifth birthday.
