Instruction: If outdoors, consider seeking shelter inside a building. Target Area: Hawkins; Northwest Carter; Northwest Greene; Southeast Carter; Sullivan; Unicoi; Washington. A strong thunderstorm is expected to affect parts of western Sullivan, northeastern Hawkins, Washington, Unicoi, southwestern Carter, and southeastern Scott Counties until 745 PM EDT. The storm was detected by Doppler radar at 652 PM EDT, moving west at 10 mph near Hampton or Elizabethton. The storm could bring wind gusts of up to 50 mph and nickel-sized hail, which could cause minor damage to outdoor objects and knock down tree limbs. The locations that may be affected include Johnson City, Kingsport, Bristol TN, Elizabethton, Erwin, Gate City, Jonesborough, Weber City, Banner Hill, and Central. The maximum hail size expected is 0.88 in with maximum wind gusts of 50 mph.
