Scotland County Hospital in Memphis announced that Hossain Mesbah, M.D., joined the Medical Staff. Mesbah is the hospitalist for inpatients and he is also working in the Emergency Room. Hospitalists are physicians typically trained in internal medicine or family practice who specialize in the care of hospitalized patients. A hospitalist manages a patient from the moment they are admitted to the hospital and all throughout the hospital stay. Hospitalists are familiar with the hospital’s systems, facilities and staff members, and maintain close relationships with specialty physicians such as cardiologists and surgeons. Hospitalists provide patients with continuity of care, allowing them to see the same physician for much of their hospital stay.

On the evening of November 24, 2023, a single-vehicle accident occurred on Route W, approximately 5 miles west of Rutledge, Missouri. At around 5:59 p.m., a 2023 Chevrolet Silverado, driven by 22-year-old Luke E. Triplett of Rutledge, Missouri, veered off the right side of the road and collided with an embankment.

The Scotland County Hospital Auxiliary recently purchased a rocking chair to be used on the Med-Surg Floor of the hospital for pediatric patient families. The nurses on that floor recognized that pediatric patients often want to be rocked by their family members and the nurses would have to go over to the Women's Center and carry a rocking chair to the Med-Surg Floor (and return the chair to the Women's Center after the pediatric patient was dismissed). This new rocking chair makes that job no longer necessary and makes pediatric patients and their families more comfortable in their hospital room.
