Two people are dead after a house fire in Schuylkill County early this morning.
Fire could be seen coming from the second floor and basement of the home at Lake Wynonah.
The fire happened at 1027 Indian Drive after 5:30 am this morning, firefighters were called to the scene where they found two people deceased.
Katie Miller lives across the street. She says her father called her about a fire, close to her home.
“My dad called me, he is involved with the fire stations up in Pottsville, I guess he has scanner or app on his phone. He called me and said listen there is a fire very close to you. My husband and I jumped out of bed, put our blinds up and we saw the smoke coming out of our neighbor’s roof immediately,” said Katie Miller.
Miller tells FOX56 at that time there were no emergency responders on the scene, but as soon as they walked outside, fire trucks were pulling in.
“It was definitely scary, I was worried for my neighbor Mike who lives in the home, I wasn’t sure if he was home at the time, I wasn’t sure if anyone was in the house, I was worried, I know they dog sit sometimes, I was worried if their was an animal in the house,” she added.
“I was very impressed with how many fireman and firetrucks showed and responded in the time they came, anything that happens here I hope that’s the kind of response we get,” said Miller.
In a usually quiet development, Miller told FOX56 today has been scary leaving her wanting to hug her two children a bit tighter tonight.
“There’s a couple things were doing, we want to make notifications to their loved ones, notify them, determine how the two of those victims died, and we also want to be able to figure out what started the fire,” said Trooper David Boehm.
Investigators say it is still very early in the investigation, and the names of the two victims have not yet been released.
